Educational programme

The Smarties educational programme is an integral system of education, developed on the basis of the Framework Educational Programme for pre-school education of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic.

The programme is based upon three principles:
Adapting to the preschool
When a child starts going to a preschool, it means a major change in his/her life; the child joins a group of other children and is without his/her parents for the first time, therefore teachers will patiently help the child to adapt. Children learn to be independent, and to cope with being apart from their family.
Educational activities
The school year copies the year cycle and is divided into four seasons, or thematic blocks. Each month of a year has its colour and topic for which partial educational goals are set. During a year, children get to know Czech and foreign holidays and festivals, and learn about their importance and associated traditions.
Preparation for primary school
The whole pre-school period is preparation for compulsory school attendance. A child should be psychologically and socially mature enough, and should show himself/herself to be a healthy and independent person. Every child is approached individually and with respect to his/her specific needs.
